Bel Lago, mi amor!

August 18, 2010

While at Glacier, which by the way is an International Peace Park, as it shares its land with Canada, the fam decided we needed to head up to good ol’ Canada!

We piled in the car and trekked about an hour and fifteen minutes to the little town of Waterton.  Hubby and I fell in love with it!  At the top of the hill in Waterton is the Prince of Wales Hotel, another state park hotel to complement the Many Glacier Hotel…I think we picked the wrong lodge! We missed High Tea that afternoon, but we did not miss the glorious view! Check this out!

Surreal, isn’t it!?

After trolling about the Prince of Wales, we headed down to the little town of Waterton. How cool that it is actually inside the national park!

Quaint little stores and lovely cafes!

Whilst strolling (felt that whilst would be appropriate here), we spotted this little joint!  It was highly recommended by one of the hotel attendants (his name was Thai Johnson, and as soon as I read his name tag I asked if they had any Thai restaurants in town…disappointingly, no).

The outside was nothing special, but the inside was hip and chic!  Norah Jones on the sound system and dim lighting made this place prime for a good meal!! Not so prime for the photography 🙂

I ordered the Striploin (never heard of this cut before!) with Truffled Mashed Potatoes (oh yea!), Balsamic Onions and a beautiful veggie medley.  Out of this world delish! The steak was cooked perfectly!

Hubby partook in the glutinous options 🙂 How could he not when the pasta is housemade fresh daily?!? He got the Sundried Tomato Fettucini with an Asparagus Pesto and Grilled Chicken…smelled yum!

After dinner, we went for a walk and spotted momma and baby deer everywhere!!  We decided to call them Bambies 🙂

Not the best pic, but they were so cute!

What is the last quaint, cute town you have been to lately? What was your favorite part about it?

The town looks so picturesque! Aww, lookit the baby deer! 😀

There’s a quaint town just south of where I live called Ferndale. It’s very Victorian, and very old-fashioned. It’s actually been the location of several movies, too, which is sorta neat. 😀

How cool!! Thanks for the link 🙂 I would love a town like that. I really want to make my way through the towns near the bay area: Berkley, Sausalito, Davis…they all look fantastic. Ever been there?

No, but my friend keeps telling me she’s going to take me to Berkeley. One of these days, hopefully! 😀

It was really cool 🙂 I’m sad we missed High Tea, but my uncle JP told me that I needed to come to London to visit and we would do High Tea there because it is GLUTEN FREE! How cool is that?!?!
